Teacher Assistant Academy

Supporting Teaching and Learning – Level 2 Certificate

If you’ve ever thought about working in a school or supporting children in the classroom, this course is your way in.

Our Level 2 Teaching Assistant course gives you the skills, confidence and qualifications to work alongside teachers, support young people, and make a real difference in the day-to-day life of a school.

You don’t need any previous experience—just a willingness to learn and a desire to help children thrive.

Functional Skills: English & Maths

Free courses for adults aged 19+

Struggling with forms? Want to help with your kids’ homework? Thinking about going for a job or training course but not sure your reading, writing or maths are strong enough?

You’re not alone. And that’s exactly what these courses are for.

Our English and Maths Functional Skills courses are designed to help you build your confidence, get a recognised qualification, and take the next step—whatever that looks like for you. You’ll be learning in small, friendly groups, with tutors who get it and support you every step of the way.

Free to adults aged 19+ and living within the Greater Liverpool area.

English Functional Skills

Improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening—as well as your spelling, punctuation and grammar.

When:

  • Thursdays & Fridays

  • Entry Level: 9:30am – 12:00

  • Level 1 & 2: 12:30 – 3:00pm

Maths Functional Skills

Learn the maths you actually need for everyday life—from budgeting to problem-solving, with no pressure.

When:

  • Thursday & Friday

  • 09:00am – 12:30

  • 13:00pm – 16:30pm

  • Free to adults aged 19+
  • No previous qualifications needed
  • You’ll have an assessment at induction to find the right level for you
  • Blended learning with group work, tutor support and independent study
  • A stepping stone to further education, jobs, promotions—or just day-to-day confidence

Computer Courses

Build your computer skills and get connected. 

If you’ve never had the chance to get confident with computers, now’s the time. Our Computers for Beginners course is for people aged 16+ who want to get to grips with everyday tech—without the faff.

Whether you’re applying for jobs, managing your money, or just trying to keep up with everything being online, we’ll show you what you need to know—clearly, simply, and with no nonsense.

All classes are delivered in person at Rotunda so you’ll have real, hands-on support throughout. 

This course is free and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

 Our courses range from 1 day to 10 weeks depending on your area of study. 

 All our courses can be delivered face to face or on-line our dedicated staff will work flexibly with you to meet your individual needs. 

Yes, you are given the opportunity to progress onto other courses available. 

Yes, work placement opportunities are available both on-site at Rotunda College and Community Hub or via our employer partners. 

Yes, during all our courses we embed IAG and CV writing to support your end goal of employment. We also guarantee an interview with our Employer partners. 

es, you can choose what works best for you. All our courses can be taken individually or as part of a full Academy pathway. Whether you’re interested in a single qualification or want to progress through a full programme—such as our Early Years Academy, Teaching Assistant Academy, or Health & Social Care Academy—we’ve designed our learning to be flexible around your goals.

Yes, most of our Adult Education is free at the point of access although there are eligibility criteria depending on where you live.
